Anyen Rinpoche

MANCHESTER >> In May, Manchester is very fortunate to receive a return visit from Anyen Rinpoche, renowned Tibetan lama who has been coming since 2012 to give teachings of love, compassion, healing and understanding to students and the public alike. Anyen Rinpoche is an esteemed teacher of Buddhism and a tulku from the high mountains of Amdo, Tibet. He is the fifth in an unbroken lineage of heart students who received their uncommon lineage of the Longchen Nyingthig and introduction to Dzogchen directly from the renowned master Patrul Rinpoche. Rinpoche lives in Denver, Colo. and teaches in the U.S., Canada and worldwide. He is the author of five books, the most recent of which is "The Tibetan Yoga of Breath."

The focal point of the weekend of May 13 through May 15 takes place when Anyen Rinpoche will be teaching the practice of Medicine Buddha. This practice is a way to bring healing energy to people suffering everywhere. To participate in the retreat, it is essential to attend the empowerment on Friday night. Pre-registration is required. The public is invited to hear Anyen Rinpoche give a talk Thursday evening, May 12 from 7 - 8 p.m. at the Inn at Willow Pond. Beginning at 6 p.m there will also be a silent auction for the Tibetan Education Project. The silent auction is a non-profit fundraising event to help Tibetan children living in rural parts of Amdo province to attend school. Since 2010, Orgyen Khamdroling has sponsored children to become bilingual in Chinese and Tibetan so they can preserve their original culture while engaging in modern society. The project currently sponsors 20 children: 11 girls and 9 boys. Three are in college studying to be teachers, six are in elementary school and the rest are in secondary school. The cost of sending one child to boarding school is about $1,000 per year.

Meanwhile there is a small group of Rinpoche's students in the area who work together on retreats, regular practice, study groups and fundraising for the Tibetan Education Project throughout the year.
