Wendy Gawlik, chairwoman of the Affiliate's Grants Committee, urges non-profit organizations, health care providers, hospitals, educational institutions, governmental agencies and breast health advocates who manage breast health programs in Vermont and New Hampshire to apply for funding as soon as possible.
"In 2012, we were able to grant $500,000 to 16 community-based breast health programs in our two states," Gawlik said, adding that, for 2013, the Affiliate hopes to see a healthy increase in applications from New Hampshire entities.
"We've been doing this in Vermont for 20 years; we're a well-known commodity," Gawlik said. "I hope that after the visibility and success of last year's first-ever New Hampshire Race for the Cure, we'll see greater interest from organizations in the Granite State."
All applications must be submitted and received online by midnight, Feb. 15 - any not-for-profit organization that provides breast health and/or breast cancer education, screening, or treatment services in Vermont or New Hampshire may apply for a grant by visiting www.komenvtnh.org.
