Keith Squires, chairman of the select board, said the reason there were new designs in front of the board was the site plan had changed. At the last select board meeting, he told the board the Rescue Squad would no longer be involved in the site. The rescue squad building would have been closest to the road.
"Due to zoning ordinances, you cannot have parking in the front of a building," Squires said.
Now, the site will feature the medical center, with parking in the back. Because the town is the land owner, Squires said they have to sign off on the changes.
The board unanimously approved the changes to the site plan.
After discussing the health center, the board moved onto the vacancy on the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Currently, Squires said there is one vacancy on the board, but there is also a board member who has only attended one meeting. There were two interested parties who submitted letters for this position.
After some discussion, Maureen Harvey was appointed until April of 2015. The board decided to appoint her because her letter was received first. However, they are informing the other applicant that there may be an opening on the ZBA soon. The individual who has not been attending ZBA meetings will receive a letter from the board, asking for a reason for the attendence record by the next select board meeting or else the individual will be removed from the board.
Cynthia Browning, select board member, wanted it noted there are also two vacancies on the planning commission and said they should ask if the other applicant would like to sit on that board.
In other business, the Arlington Rec Park has a continuing vandalism problem. Squires said the back door was once again kicked in.
"On a fairly regular basis, someone has kicked the out of it," he said. "I think it's time to start taking pictures."
Browning suggested leaving a motion activated wildlife camera in the area.
