DORSET AND MANCHESTER -- Two Northshire towns have recently taken on a new look on the Internet. Both Dorset and Manchester have launched new town websites; by coincidence at roughly the same time within the past couple of weeks.

John O'Keefe, Manchester town manager, said the reason the town decided to change their online look was mainly because it was time. The town website is the first that comes up when searching "Manchester, VT," and O'Keefe said this version is much easier to use.

"This is the gateway to Manchester," he said.

The new website uses a wordpress interface, which is much more functional and is easier to add plugins and widgets. O'Keefe said there are some great new photos and this new site is less complicated to change.

A calendar complete with town meetings, but also events like the field trip to Upper Valley Aquatics Center, is now online. Before, the calendar just had events like select board meetings.

In the near future, Manchester will be sending out a monthly e-mail newsletter complete with pertinent information and upcoming events. The Dorset website has been updated as well. It now has new color pictures of sites around town, as well as a new, more easy to use interface. Along with warnings about meetings, there is now an easy to use section of maps, like zoning and highway maps, for those interested in the topography of the town. There are also past issues of the Dorset newsletter available on the website. Manchester's website address remains the same: manchester-vt.gov. Dorset's website address is dorsetvt.org.
