DANBY - The Vermont State Police responded to a residence on John Corey Road on Sunday for shooting and stabbing that had occurred.

Three adults and two children were found when troopers from the Rutland Barracks and the Pawlet Constable arrived on the scene. Two of the adults - a male and a female - were injured. According to a report by the Rutland Herald, the man had been shot in the leg and the woman had been stabbed.

Wallingford Rescue, Manchester Rescue and Regional Rescue responded to the scene and transported the subjects to Rutland Regional Medical Center. According to the Herald's report, scanner reports indicated that the police had attempted to get a helicopter to the scene from either Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. or Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center. Weather conditions prohibited a helicopter from coming though.

As of press time, both subjects were still being treated at the hospital and there was no further information regarding their respective medical status at this time, according to a police report received on Monday.

State Police Detectives have been called in and are currently investigating this incident. According to the police report, further information will be released as the investigation progresses on Monday.

The residence is set about 100 yards from John Corey Road, which is located about a mile from Danby Four Corners, according to the Herald article.
