Executive Director of the Bennington Area Habitat for Humanity, Richard Malley, said the designs before the board were possible designs that Habitat would use for the homes depending on the size of the family they had chosen.
"By showing you these designs were looking for general approval," Malley said. "Unless something is radically different then would come back, but within this ballpark of these designs we would like to go ahead and know we can use these designs."
Planning Director and Zoning Administrator Lee Krohn said that Habitat also included a list of materials they might choose from in the construction of the homes.
Habitat has embarked on a 22 lot project on Jennifer Lane with the assistance of Vermont Traditional Builders who is expected to build about half the homes in the neighborhood.
According to previous reports, the homes built by Vermont Traditional Builders would be built as they are sold. They will also be sold for no profit and will meet the affordability requirements, according to previous reports.
