In addition, a second free evening concert on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. will be presented for the Arlington, Sunderland and Sandgate communities at Arlington High School's Mack Performing Arts Center, sponsored by Mack Molding, The Bank of Bennington, and the Arlington Memorial High School Music and Media Lab with GNAT-TV, which will be recording the concert.
The Manchester Chamber Orchestra (MCO), conducted by Ariel Rudiakov with piano soloist Adam Neiman, will play music by Bach, Beethoven, Giannini, and the world premier of a concerto for piano and strings that Adam Neiman composed especially for MMF.
The 18-piece orchestra, which has been presenting annual free school concerts since 1985, is comprised of professional musicians from NYC and Boston, alumni from MMF's summer Young Artist program and a former student of MMF's Michael Rudiakov Music Academy, violinist Lauren Cauley. About 560 students from nine different schools (Maple Street, Long Trail, Dorset, Sunderland, Fischer Elementary, Flood Brook, Wallingford, Bennington Elementary, and Hiland Hall) will attend the concerts and learn about the instruments and composers.
Homeschooled children are invited to attend the 11 a.m. session.
The school-time concerts are the official start of MCO's fall tour, with performances in Freeport, Long Island; Glens Falls, N.Y., Arlington, North Creek, N.Y. and Brooklyn. A full schedule is available on the MMF website, at www.mmfvt.org.
