Death of a Salesman was on Weston Playhouse's short list for a long time. This is a production that realizes much of what Arthur Miller wanted: the enormous capacity for tragedy in everyman/woman, the place where the American Dream teeters on the abyss of nightmare and finally plunges into it, and how our world is lessened when people become trapped in illusions that don't allow them to simply be who they are. You won't be comfortable, and you will be shaken instead of entertained. You will also be awed by the language and multi-tiered construction of this play, which began for Miller with "the first two lines and a death." It is the keystone of why he is revered as the greatest American playwright.
