MANCHESTER - Maple Street School will be hosting "Toolbox Workshops" this coming June for rising 3rd through 8th graders. Students will learn strategies that will bolster their independence and broaden their comprehensive understanding in both writing and math.

The "Writer's Toolbox" will take place from June 16 - 20. "Writer's Toolbox" teaches students structure and techniques to enhance their current writing skills with a focus on grammar, poetry, narrative, and persuasive writings.

The "Mathematician's Toolbox" will take place from June 23-27.

"Mathematician's Toolbox" enriches students' mathematical foundation allowing them to apply skills and concepts to real world situations.

Participants will explore financial literacy, math activities in the kitchen and in the art room, web-based activities, and math facts boot camp. Common Core State Standards are addressed as part of this program.

The instructors for the program are Head of the English Department, Mary Mangiacotti, and Head of the Math Department, Joy Stewart. Each workshop will run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a fee of $200. Extended hours are available for an additional fee.
