Fisher Reading Specialist Donna Bazyk, who also served as Thing Two, organized the event.
"It's so important to have students enthusiastic about reading," she said. "The rally was a great way to energize the students and start the month with a fun activity."
During the rally, classes shouted reading cheers, recited a reading pledge, danced and threw confetti and watched a video of Quarterback Tim Tebow reading his favorite childhood book, Green Eggs and Ham. Tebow has partnered with the reading incentive program, BOOK IT! In addition, Fisher Music and Chorus teacher Patti Cody led the school in singing "Happy Birthday" to Dr.
During the rally, Bazyk reminded students to log their reading hours and to give information about their reading to their teacher. As books are read, teachers post paper stars throughout the school's hallway. Bazyk encouraged the students to aim for a 100 percent reading participation rate. "Every March, we fill the halls with information about the number of books our students are reading," she said. "It's great for everyone to see how important reading is at Fisher."
After the reading rally, Fisher hosted a reading night for families, Hollywood: Be a Reading Star, a red-carpet event with skits and performances by Fisher students.
