ARLINGTON - "Service" will be the talk of the evening in a program sponsored by Citizens Interested in Vermont Education on Friday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m., at the American Legion Hall in Arlington. Col. Allan Faxon will lead a discussion of the many aspects of serving others and shares his own ethos of "Family, Country, Corps and Community."

Col. Faxon, former teacher at Long Trail School and Burr & Burton Academy, began his military career in the Marine Corps in 1981. He has uniquely held assignments as an infantry officer, logistics officer, and engineer officer during his career. He was an initial member of a special anti-terrorism unit based out of Camp Lejeune shortly after 9-11; served as Deputy of logistics for all of Iraq in 2005; and most recently served with the Second Marine Expeditionary Brigade as lead engineer in the Helmand Pro vince, Afghanistan.

Col. Faxon retired from the Marine Corps in 2011. He is currently Chief Operations Officer/ Deputy at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington. This event is free and open to the general public. Contact Carol DuPont, 362-5556 or Barbara Marchetti, 362-3675 for further information.
