Four students - Bradley Marriner, Giulia Rosenthal, Logan Patnaude, Steven Svendberg, and Thomas Becker - graduated from the interest-based program, with student interests ranging from computer programming to hunting.
To graduate from LiHigh School, students must complete a slew of graduation requirements, including developing a lengthy autobiography of 50 pages or more and completing a major senior-capstone project.
LiHigh School is an approved independent school in Poultney that services students from towns all throughout Rutland and Bennington Counties.
It offers personalized learning to students in grades six through 12, which means the school builds an entire learning plan around the passions and interests of each student, and then connects that learning plan to experiences in the real world through professional mentors and internships.
The school does not assess its students through grades; instead, it asks each student to complete public exhibitions of their learning, where staff, parents, peers, and community members can ask questions and offer feedback.
Students also receive narrative evaluations of their work each term, allowing the student's advisor to assess the whole student, rather than just his or her performance in a specific subject.
