A quality recognition system for childcare, preschool and afterschool programs, STARS assesses providers in five areas: compliance with state regulations; staff qualifications and training; interaction with and overall support of children, families, and communities; how thoroughly providers assess what they do and plan for improvements; and the strength of the program's operating policies and business practices. Additionally, MSW's Kindergarten program is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the same accrediting body of Harvard University.
With an average class size of only nine students, as well as an average of over 30 year's experience in early childhood education for each faculty member, The Mountain School is able to provide a rigorous yet personalized education in a safe, supportive environment. Students learn through integrated, thematic learning with a focus on creative and explorative experiences, which enhance critical thinking and problem solving. Students must be 4 years of age by October 31 to enter Pre-K, and 5 years of age by October 31 to enter Kindergarten.
Families attending or seeking to attend MSW next year as requested to contact the office no later than April 12, 2013, for an application. Screenings will be taking place on April 19. Space is limited. Financial aid and early childhood special education is available. Families are also encouraged to check with their local school board to determine if funds are available to assist with the cost of the program.
