SUNDERLAND — Sunderland sixth graders are still talking about their adventure and the many things they learned on their November 2008 trip to the Schoodic Education Research Center on Schoodic Peninsula, part of Acadia National Park. The Schoodic Education Adventure is a three day outdoor educational program that provides students with a National Park experience. Led by Park Rangers, it includes ocean views, crashing waves, a National Park and former US Naval Radar Station.

Last year's trip was made possible by a number of fundraisers students organized to cover the costs of the trip as well as generous grants. Sunderland received a $250 travel grant from Acadia Partners, LL. Bean covered the $450 cost of the required summer teacher workshop and $250 to cover half of the student fees.

This year the class of 2010 will make the same trip. Sixth grade teacher, Mary Ann Caraco wrote and received a grant that will help cover the costs.
