ARLINGTON - The Batten Kill Watershed Alliance NY/VT will hold their annual meeting on Thursday, Oct. 24, beginning at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in East Arlington.

There will be presentations at the annual meeting that will provide information about initiatives by the state of Vermont to protect and restore the quality of the water systems.

Kari Dolan, Ecosystem Restoration Program Manager, will give the presentation "Vermont's Clean Water Future: Overcoming the State's Water Quality Challenges."

Ethan Swift, Watershed Coordinator for Basin One, will give the presentation entitled "Using a watershed framework to provide integrated water resource management for the restoration and protection of water resources in Vermont."

The presentations will serve to educate those in attendance about how to meet Vermont's clean water challenges.

Clean water is needed for drinking to protect public health, to support economic activity, and to sustain wildlife resources.

Yet Vermont also needs to minimize the financial impacts of policies on municipalities, businesses, farms and individuals.

To get to the Legion Hall from Route 7A in Arlington, turn east onto East Arlington Road, go up the hill, and turn right before the railroad tracks on Legion Road.
