WEST PAWLET - The Mettawee Community School will be hosting the semi-annual Share the Warmth, clothing drive on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26-27, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

People are asked to consider donating new/used clean, stain-free clothing (babies through adult, any season), outerwear, footwear, accessories, blankets and even prom/wedding dresses, suits and Halloween costumes. Because of the monumental task of organizing this many items, people who are dropping off a lot of clothing are asked to break them up into warm weather or cold weather groups.

Donations will be taken Thursday, Oct. 24, from 2:45-5:30 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 25, any time before 4 p.m., at the school. Those planning to attend should bring their own shopping bags.

Mettawee PTO president Brooke Burnham began the event in her home state of New Jersey. She saw how the event transformed not only the people who benefitted from it but the community as well. As a result, when her family moved to Vermont, she decided to begin the event here as well. "I'm a huge fan of paying it forward. I really love how the community comes together, especially my fabulous volunteers, to help one another. It makes my heart smile," Burnham said.

The school is located at 5788 VT Route 153 in West Pawlet. Those who wish to donate, but are unable to get to the school, have questions about the event, or are seeking more information, should call 802-645-0968.
