ARLINGTON >> Battenkill Valley Health Center, Inc. (BVHC) is pleased to welcome Marguerite "Maggie" Dusha, adult nurse practitioner (ANP), family nurse practitioner (FNP), to the medical community in Arlington.
"I am thrilled to be joining the team of providers at BVHC," said Dusha. "I am looking forward to serving the pediatric needs of the community, an area of medicine that I truly love, in addition to providing individual care to patients of all ages. I value my patients and take their care very seriously. They are my first priority and I work hard to provide them with the care they deserve."
Dusha has more than 24 years of experience as a registered nurse in acute care and four years of experience in internal medicine, family medicine and pediatrics as a nurse practitioner. She attended SUNY Adirondack for her AAS Degree, Sage College for her BS Degree in Nursing, and Sage Graduate School for her Master's Degree in Nursing as an ANP. Dusha then received additional training as a FNP, completing her post master's degree at Sage Graduate School. Prior to joining BVHC, Dusha worked for two community health centers, one in Vermont and the other in Rhode Island. She also practiced internal and family medicine for Glens Falls Family Health Centers. Dusha served most recently at Community Health Centers of Rutland Region where she was responsible for outpatient adult urgent care and pediatric care.
"Maggie is a breath of fresh air, bringing innovative ideas and skills to BVHC. As we embark on a nine-month renovation project, we continue to imagine forward, excited to expand access to medical services as well as the addition of dental to the services we already provide," said Grace Gilbert-Davis, chief executive officer of BVHC.
Like other Vermont nurse practitioners, Dusha is an independent provider who delivers quality care akin to medical doctors. They diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, and write prescriptions.
NPs also have a unique focus on wellness and preventative care and like to work in partnership with their patients.
"Given the national shortage of primary care physicians, nurse practitioners are playing a critical role in ensuring access to medical care," said Gilbert-Davis. "With the addition of Maggie to our medical team, BVHC is moving from a startup FQHC to a medical clinic that is here to stay."
Dusha is now accepting new patients and offering services to existing patients at Battenkill Valley Health Center, located in the heart of Arlington across from Stewart's. Together with permanent provider Kimberly Tulloch, ANP, and temporary providers Shawn May, PA, and Pauline Kahng, PA, the BVHC clinical care team provides comprehensive quality care to patients of all ages, with or without insurance.
Dusha has four grown daughters and she lives in Greenwich, N.Y. with two of them. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her family and dogs. To learn more about Maggie Dusha, BVHC and becoming a patient, visit www.battenkillvalleyhealthcenter.com or call 802-375-6566.
