MANCHESTER>> Green Mountain Academy will host a talk about the role of populism in the 2016 election on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 5:30 p.m. with population expert Dr. Steven Sinding. The talk will be held at Burr and Burton Academy in the Hunter Seminar Room. At its root, populism is a belief in the power of regular people, and in their right to have control over their government rather than a small group of political insiders or a wealthy elite. Populism emerges in uncertain times and often in unpredictable ways.
Dr. Steven Sinding was the director general of the International Planned Parenthood Federation in London. He had a 20-year career at the U.S. Agency for International Development and served as senior population advisor to the World Bank and later as director of the Population Sciences program at the Rockefeller Foundation. He was clinical professor of public health at Columbia University. Registration is $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
