MANCHESTER >> Earlier this year the Manchester Lions Club announced that a grant of up to $3,000 would be awarded to a non-profit organization to fund a specific project that would serve the greater Manchester community. Grant applications were requested by 14 area non-profits. From that pool two groups were selected to receive $1,500 each by the Lions Grant Committee.
Awards were made to The Northshire Day School and the Manchester riverwalk.
The Northshire Day School's grant money will be used to install upgraded child safety seats in their 15 passenger van to improve the safety of the children being transported to and from various school activities.
Manchester River Walk will be use their grant to construct an Ecosystem Demonstration Project at the Riverwalk to test strategies for the control of invasive species and to plant and care for native species in a location near the Factory Point Park. Lessons learned from this project will be utilized throughout the development of the River Walk.
The Lions congratulate the awardees for their important contributions to our community.
