The Bennington County Choral Society and its music director Cailin Marcel Manson will be featured at the Great Day of Singing in Rutland on April 9. The event is sponsored by the Vermont American Choral Directors Association. It is free and open to teen and adult singers, conductors, and all who love singing. Master teacher, conductor and baritone Cailin Marcel Manson will give tips on vocal technique and healthy singing. Mr. Manson will also teach and lead music by Leonard Bernstein, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Franz Schubert, and Moses Hogan. The BCCS will perform selections from pieces from works they are preparing for their spring concert in May: Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Ralph Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem. Other area choirs will have an opportunity to perform, as well as the BCCS. The event will take place on April 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grace Congregational Church, 8 Court St. Rutland. An On-site lunch option made by Gill's Delicatessen is available for $8 if ordered in advance. Other lunch options include bringing your own or eating in town.
