MANCHESTER >> The Downtown School, Manchester's independent, progressive-education elementary school, would like to thank everyone who came to the school's Dollar Skate at Riley Rink this past Sunday.
"It was great to see so many area families come out for an afternoon of skating, enjoying the wonderful resource that Riley Rink is for our community" said Head of School Alexa Manning.
The school raised money through both admissions fees for skating and a bake sale featuring treats made by Downtown School students and their families. "The money raised at the Dollar Skate will go toward our financial aid fund," said Manning, "helping us to offer a Downtown School educational experience to a socio-economically diverse student body." The Downtown School would also like to thank The Spiral Press Café and The Perfect Wife Restaurant and Tavern for their ongoing support of the Dollar Skate series.
The Downtown School is currently accepting applications for three-year-olds through 4th grade for the 2016-2017 school year, and will add an older grade each year through 8th grade. The school offers an inspiring, challenging, interdisciplinary curriculum focused on fostering authentic learning experiences, empowering independence, and building lifelong learners. In addition to a rigorous academic environment, The Downtown School offers classes each week in Mandarin Chinese, music, art, movement, and yoga, as well as an hour or more of outdoor time each day.
