BENNINGTON >> The Bennington Museum has a number of events for children coming up in February.
Museum ABCs kicks off the year with "Winter with Grandma Moses"
On Thursday, Feb. 25 at 1:30 p.m., Bennington Museum's ABCs program presents Winter with Grandma Moses. Explore the wintry weather through the eyes of Grandma Moses, create winter scenes, and enjoy winter-themed stories. Developed and offered in collaboration with the Bennington Free Library, Museum ABCs is a story hour that takes place once each month in the galleries of the Bennington Museum. Created especially for children ages 3 to 5, their parents and caregivers, each monthly program includes stories about the selected topic, visits to galleries in the Bennington Museum to observe and talk about an actual piece(s) of art, and an art or craft activity. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Sponsored by The Bank of Bennington, Museum ABCs programs are free. Registration is not required.
Winter break activities planned for students
If you would like to keep the children busy during Winter Break, Bennington Museum offers Winter Vacation Workshops on Feb. 15, 16, 18 and 19. Fun and educational, each program runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is designed for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. Monday's program is titled Vermont Know It All. Join us to learn interesting facts and become an expert on Vermont. On Tuesday join in the fun with Odds and Ends Art. Let your imagination be your guide as you select from a grab bag of materials to create the art you want. We are skipping over Wednesday as the museum is closed, but come back on Thursday for Simple Printmaking when we will spend time in the Works on Paper Gallery. The week wraps-up on Friday, February 19 with What's the Weather? when we look at weather in paintings, learn about historic Bennington weather events, look at weather devices like weathervanes, and more.
The price per workshop is $9 per child for members and $12 per child for non-members and includes a snack and all materials. Registration is required. Classes are subject to minimum and maximum class sizes. To register call 802-447-1571 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
