MANCHESTER >> On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 6-7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the 12th annual Southern Vermont Primitive Biathlon will be taking place at Skinner Hollow Farm on Route 7A.
The main event is a timed run and walk through wooded trails while participants stop at designated shooting stations to compete for accuracy. Pre-register for $10; at the gate reistration is $15. Spectators are welcome, free of charge. A food concession will be in place on the site.
Two grand prizes will be given away this year in a separate raffle: A brand new CVA Optima .50 Caliber Inline Muzzleloader compliments of The Manchester Rod & Gun Club and The Reel Angler; and a like new Interarms Hawkin .50 cal. Percussion Rifle w/box and powder measure, compliments of Eric Severance.
Eighteenth century dress is encouraged, but not required. All proceeds go to benefit the Manchester rod and Gun Club youth conservation camp scholarship fund and gun range reconstruction project. Last year this event raised $2,500, and over $18,500 to date.
