ARLINGTON >> The visual images of turmoil in Syria are all too evident in today's mass media as news and political machinations instill a culture of fear, wittingly or unwittingly, and shockingly few images of the cultural diversity, history and beauty of the Syrian people can be found. Here then is an opportunity to learn about another side of Syria through the lens of simple photographs of daily living.

Deborah Harte Felmeth fell in love with Syria during a trip in 1991. She and her husband divided their time after that equally between Damascus and their Vermont home until the recent upheavals and tragedy of war. She works professionally as a piano and voice teacher, and is an avid photographer.

On Sunday, Feb. 7, Felmeth will present "Syria - Remember Me." This event takes place at 2:30 p.m, rather than the usual time of 2 p.m. For information visit the library's website at or call 802-375-6153. The Canfield Library is located at 528 East Arlington Road, in Arlington.
