BENNINGTON >> Bragging rights, the coveted Golden Spoon and a gift certificate to Spice n' Nice are the prizes awaiting the top winner of the Bennington Farmers' Market Super Bowl Weekend Chili Cook-off.
The cooking contest on is open to any and all. Chili artisans from throughout the community are invited to bring a crock pot of their best homemade chili to the First Baptist Church, 601 Main Street. at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 6 and put it to the vote of market goers and other chili aficionados. The top three vote-getters will be awarded gold, silver and bronze-decorated wooden spoons plus gift certificates and food items.
With its vast selection of locally grown vegetables and eggs, freshly prepared meals and baked goods, locally harvested syrups and honey plus a wide selection of beautifully crafted jewelry, handbags, hats and other items the Bennington Farmers' Market provides a personal yet diverse shopping experience to consumers in the tri-state area. Entertainment by local musicians and special events such as food contests add to the fun and make the market THE place to be Saturday mornings.
Registration for the cook-off is five dollar and chili samples will sell for a dollar a piece. Proceeds from the cook-off will benefit the Bennington County Meals on Wheels program.
