MANCHESTER >> Green Mountain Academy will host Skidmore College Professor Robert Turner, to talk about the hot topic of immigration policies in the United States. In the past 60 years, Congress passed significant immigration reform measures on a bipartisan basis. Then in 2007 and 2013, the Senate overwhelmingly passed comprehensive immigration reform on a bipartisan basis, only to have it fail in the House. Traditionally, our national government has been able to pass immigration laws on the basis of strange-bedfellow alliances. Why has partisan polarization trumped politics and what are the implications for immigration policy in the 21st century?

The talk will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at the Manchester Community Library from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Registration is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information or to register, call 802-867-0111 or visit GMALL's website at
