MANCHESTER >> The Ballet Center at Manchester announces The Nutcracker performance, to be held Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. (Snowdate is Dec. 20, 7 p.m.) at Burr and Burton Academy, Riley Center, and on Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. (Snowdate is Dec. 21 at 2 p.m.) at Long Trail School Auditorium.
Artistic Director Marilyn Cavallari said the cast consists of children and adults are from the Southern Vermont area.
The Nutcracker opens with a grand party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stahlbaum. The guests arrive followed by a very mysterious person only to find out that it is their favorite Uncle Drosselmyer. He arrives with a bag of gifts for all the children. The lead of Clara will be danced by Lily Hickey on Saturday and Sarah Tilly on Sunday and her brother Fritz will be danced by Cale Tilley. At the Christmas Party Clara receives a Nutcracker doll from her uncle Herr Drosselmeyer, Mark Tashjian , Headmaster of BBA. Clara returned to the living room after the party and falls asleep only to find herself in The Land of Sweets.
This is a favorite holiday event for children and adults alike. The music is by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky. All seats are reserved. Ticket prices are $20 for Adults, Students $15 and $10 for Children, 12 and under. A portion of the proceeds from this performance goes to the Irene Hunter Scholarship Endowment Fund.
