LONDONDERRY >> Do you have Medicare and Part D insurance for your prescription drugs? If so, you have until Dec. 7 to review your insurance plans to ensure the best drug coverage at the lowest possible cost.
Marguerite Mason, an expert in Medicare Insurance, began taking Monday appointments mid-October at Neighborhood Connections to personally review supplemental drug insurance plan. The demand has been so great that Neighborhood Connections has extended this service up to Dec. 7.
According to Marguerite, in 2016, 23 prescription drug plans will be available in Vermont. Eighteen of those plans have raised their rates an average of 20 percent. Eleven have raised or instituted a deductible. More than half have made significant changes to the pharmacies that will sell prescriptions at their lowest rate. "It is important for everyone who has Plan D drug coverage to review their plan at this time. You can ensure significant savings by doing so." Mason said it is easy to change your plan; you can't be refused for any reason; and enrolling in a new plan automatically cancels your old one.
Call Neighborhood Connections at 824-4343 to make a Monday appointment. Bring a list of your prescription drugs and your Medicare card.
