Hayes was told by her provider's in Boston have told her that she should raise at least $30,000 to help defray the cost of deductibles for very expensive anti-rejection medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life as well as her and her husband's stay in Boston for the two months following her surgery. She will also need to go back monthly, probably for the rest of her life.
The fundraiser, a spaghetti dinner, will be held at the American Legion in Arlington on Thursday, July 12, from 5-7 p.m. The suggested donation is $10 per adult and $5 for children under 10-years-old. The dinner will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, a roll and cake for dessert. Iced tea and lemonade will be served or there will be drinks available for purchase from the bar.
There will be a raffle table with gift certificates and baskets as well as silent auction for any larger items donated. There are also plans to hold a 50/50 raffle.
