MANCHESTER - The Manchester and the Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce popular holiday celebration "Manchester Merriment" (a Vermont Top 10 Winter Event this year) presented Manchester Merriment proceeds at the Chamber's annual holiday mixer last week.

Overall the Chamber's contribution to the non-profit sector of the community was over $6,000.

Lou Maguire, Store Manager TD Bank, Manchester and Bennington, President of the Manchester and the Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce, presented checks to seven regional food cupboards.

Accepting checks at the event were representatives from the Manchester Food Cupboard, The Arlington Food Shelf, the Pawlet Food Pantry and the Jamaica-Wardsboro Food Pantry. Checks were also given to Rupert Food Shelf, Londonderry Food Pantry and the Danby Food Pantry. The Manchester Food Cupboard alone is serving 400 families. Elaine Beckwith, Elaine Beckwith Gallery, representative of the Jamaica-Wardsboro Food Pantry said, "It is so gratifying to be part of region that reaches out to help others at this difficult time of year."
