DORSET - Dorset furniture maker William Laberge is offering an introductory furniture making class at his workshop. The weekend class will take place Nov. 9 and 10.

In the introductory furniture making class, students will learn about furniture making techniques and bring home a Cherry Shaker Nightstand. Laberge will teach students about wood selection, grain matching, design elements, safe use of machinery, mortise and tenon joinery, tapering legs, surface preparation and finishing.

The class will be held in Laberge's shop located at 5145 Route 30 in Dorset, just north of the Mettowee Mill Nursery. The class will meet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. The price for the class is $375 plus $75 for materials. Space is limited.
