This summer's field trip in the Manchester Valley concentrated on reading history by looking at landscape and the rocks. This fall excursion will review this aspect of geology and build on it with a study of geologic history of the Green Mountains with special focus on how mountains are formed. The program will begin at Burr and Burton Academy. Those who attend will carpool to Arlington and make their way through various stops to Stratton Mountain. There will be some uphill walking. Those planning to attend should bring a bag lunch.
While teaching geology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 1968 through 1997, Dr. Myers devoted most of his efforts to the instruction of field-based courses in North America and Scotland. Following his retirement, he designed and built an energy-efficient home in Peru, Vt., where he works as a home energy consultant and lives with his wife, Welthy.
