New to the event this year will be an optional 4 km hill climb time trial featured on the 100 km ride.
The time trial will take place during a segment up Rupert Mountain and a winner will be crowned in both the men's and women's divisions, with the first place finishers receiving prizes courtesy of The Mountain Goat, one of the ride's main sponsors.
The 100 km ride will start at 9 a.m. and the 50 km ride will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Registration is open online for a reduced $30 fee at www.akpfoundation.org or participants can register the morning of the event for $40. Same-day registration opens at 8 a.m., however race organizers ask that all participants try to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their specific start time.
The ride is one of AKP's main fundraising efforts each year and all of the ride's proceeds will go to AKP's mission to "fight cancer with adventure." Participants are asked to fundraise for the ride so that their donations can help the organization's effort to provide young adults in financial need with the means to use adventure sports, athletics and adaptive sports to energize a comeback from cancer.
All participants will receive
"This year's ride will be the best one we've ever organized," says AKP president Jon Wilson. "Between the two routes, the hill climb, and all of the support from our sponsors, it will be an amazing event and will play a significant role in supporting all of the adventure grants and retreats that we will continue to offer young adult cancer fighters and survivors this upcoming year."
