Empty Bowls at Long Trail School has become a popular and familiar event to many Northshire residents who come and help support food cupboards, shelves and pantries. A $10 admission fee includes soup, bread, dessert, live entertainment and a handmade bowl of your choice to take home.
The recipients of this biennial event's earnings are Danby Food Shelf, Pawlet Community Church Food Pantry, Neighbor's Pantry, Arlington Food Shelf, Manchester Community Food Cupboard and Community Sharing Project.
The event is supported by generous donations by local businesses and over 20 local restaurants and chefs are donating their fabulous soups, chowders and bisques to the menu. Breads and desserts are being provided free of charge as well. This gift of tasty food ensures that the evening's monetary intake will be maximized for optimal use by the 6 recipients of these funds.
Over the last five years, Empty Bowls at Long Trail School has raised close to $75,000 by making approximately 3,000 bowls and filling each one with soup donated by local restaurants. The local food-related charities the event supports are in great demand this year and are looking forward to the monetary support Empty Bowls provides.
