This hands on class will teach participants every aspect of leather book construction. Learn the skills and techniques required to create a book from scratch, including folding, sewing, edge cutting, affixing endpapers, headbanding, rounding and backing, lining the spine, paring leather, pasting the book into its case and lettering the cover.
Throughout the course of class, Summers will talk about the history of books, tools and equipment, binding, decoration, and other points of interest. Tickets are $150 and include all materials and a light lunch. Space is limited to six students.
