MANCHESTER - On Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m., join Harry Martin for an evening celebrating Emily Dickinson's life and work: her personal history and family life; comparisons of her work to other authors; and a deeper analysis of two of her poems.

There was a little lady just a hundred miles north in Amherst, Mass., who went on writing magnificent poetry in near isolation for years, including love poems to men she had met only a few times in company, whose imagination encompassed a world known primarily from books. Note her famous line: "My wars are laid away in books." This is a lady who refused to leave her house or even her room from her early 40s until she died at 55.
