The joint concert is a three-part program featuring performances by the Castleton Wind Ensemble, the 40th Army Band and several combined pieces.
Each ensemble will first perform individual pieces and then come together as one large concert band to perform "Kaddish" by W. Francis McBeth and "Second Suite for Military band in F major" by Gustav Hoist.
The 40th Army Band began in 1907 as the 1st Infantry Band and later became part of the 172nd Infantry, 43rd Division.
The band has been stationed at various locations throughout Vermont and is currently stationed at home base in the Green Mountain Armory at Camp Johnson in Colchester.
The Castleton Wind Ensemble, directed by Professor Matthew Smith, is made up of Castleton students who perform concert literature for woodwinds, brass and percussion from all eras of music.
All event proceeds will go towards the Music Department at Castleton.
