The organizers' goal for this year's event (a choice of a 3 or 5k snowshoe walk or a 3k snowshoes race) is a lofty but attainable one - to break last year's numbers in both participation (850 Rompers) and money raised ($114,000).
North America's largest snowshoe series - there are now seven Romps across the US and two in Canada - the Tubbs Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Series has raised over $2.2 million for breast cancer research and education since its inception. Vermont Rompers have an incredible passion for the cure and have consistently held the position of highest average fund-raising per person of all the Romp events. Stratton Mountain hosted the very first Romp, back in '03, and has since that time brought in $423,520.
With its gorgeous course that leads snowshoers of all ages and abilities through incredibly beautiful wooded trails, the Stratton Romp is a not-to-be-missed event for hundreds of folks. A true family-friendly affair, the Romp encourages Lil Rompers' - kids from 0 to 12 accompanied by a registered adult - to get in on the action, too.
