MANCHESTER - The Manchester and the Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce announced the annual distribution of proceeds from Manchester Merriment events - inn tours, wine tastings, horse and wagon rides - have been distributed to the seven regional food cupboards.

"The Chamber's $2,300 donation will provide much needed support to our food cupboards. Strong (participation) in "Merriment" provides the opportunity for us to continue this level of support for our food cupboards which is so important in these challenging economic times," said Executive Director of the Chamber, Berta Maginniss.

The contributions were presented to the respective food cupboards at the Chamber's December Mixer held at the Visitor Welcome Center.

Jack Gunther, Director of Arlington Food Cupboard, said, "Without important gifts from the community we would not be able to stay in business and serve many deserving folks."

There are food cupboards in the surrounding towns of Arlington, Danby, Jamaica, Londonderry, Manchester, Pawlet and Rupert. Those who would like further details are encouraged to call the Chamber at 362-6313.
