LONDONDERRY - Flood Brook Union School students have qualified to participate in the 2012-2013 CTY Talent Search, sponsored by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. The purpose of the Talent Search is to identify, assess, and recognize the academic abilities of highly able students. In order to qualify for the Talent Search, a student must score in the 97th percentile or higher on a mathematical or verbal reasoning section of a nationally-normed test or have state test results categorized at the highest levels of performance.

Based on their test scores, students in fourth through sixth grade are then eligible for the School & College Ability Test (SCAT) which will provide them with information that will help them develop their special academic talents. 37 Flood Brook students in fourth through sixth grade qualified for this test. Seventh and eighth grade students are eligible for the above grade level SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and STB (Spatial Test Battery) which assess their academic skills as well as their spatial reasoning. 16 Flood Brook seventh and eight grade students qualified for this test.

In addition to receiving recognition for outstanding academic achievement, students are eligible for awards and scholarships donated by colleges and universities. CTY offers numerous programs around the world and online but is best known for its fast-paced Summer Programs, which are held on many university campuses throughout the United States and the world and serve over 10,000 students each year.
