Long-time members still refer to the Crescent Valley Homemakers as "Home Dem," which was its name back in the 1940s when it was an educational project of the Vermont Agricultural Extension Agency, to teach young farmers' wives through home demonstrations of making jelly or canning vegetables. It probably met a social need too. Nowadays, we still socialize and learn, and we also like to "give back" to the community.
The group usually meet for lunch on the first Wednesday of every month except March, July and August, (and November this year), and extends a hearty welcome to anyone who'd like to join. They have informative guest speakers, and enjoy the friendship of everyone who comes.
