On Saturday, Nov. 10, the Fresh Market & Country Store located on Depot Street in Manchester (Routes 11/30) will formally recognize its opening as the region's newest and most innovative marketplace for the sale of local farm to stable foods with an event that will begin at 10 a.m. and extend until 4 p.m.
Fresh Market vendors will be on site for food sampling and cooking demonstrations.
There will be indoor educational displays on home farming, backyard chicken and poultry care, bread and jam making, pickling, and the many other arts of healthful home food production.
Weather permitting, there will be a petting zoo with a calf, goats, sheep, a donkey, chickens, and other small animals present to charm children of all ages.
The new year round farm market now open daily will be plentifully stocked with all manner of local products; and each farmer or food producer present will offer more goods to sell directly as well.
There will be live music and activities for the entire family including a face painting event staffed by Northshire Day School volunteers.
To top it off there will also be a 10 cent per gallon discount offered that day on gasoline sales at the full service pumps in
By contributing a portion of their sales on Nov. 10 to the Children's Food Garden Project, area farmers and food producers as well as the Garden Arts Company - the parent of the new Fresh Market & Country Store - will be furthering the habit of people growing healthy foods at home as a part of their regular lifestyle.
To add to the financial benefit of the day for the school, the Fresh Market will premier its all natural fiber Fresh Market Shopping Bag with a portion of the proceeds for that item also going to the Northshire Day School.
