Local First! Once again, when it came time to add a new member to The Journal's news staff, we were happy to find one right in our own backyard.

Dylan Baker is a 2007 graduate of Burr and Burton Academy and in 2011, became a graduate of Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H. Last week, he joined the staff of The Journal as our new news reporter. He lives in East Dorset.

Lauren Read, our former sports reporter, has moved on to the Burlington Free Press and we wish her the best. We're sure she will be successful at her new job. It was a pleasure having Lauren as part of our team for the past two-and-one-half years.

Lauren's departure has prompted a reshuffling of assignments here at The Journal's newsroom. Her former sports beat

will be taken over by Brandon Canevari, who mainly covered local news events previously, and Dylan will be taking over for Brandon on the news beat.
