"Differentiated Instruction" is essentially meeting students at their individual readiness levels, interests and learning profiles to achieve the stated learning goals of a course.
It is anchored in a growth mindset, meaning a core belief that intelligence is not fixed, but that every student can reach a high potential by using strong habits of the mind.
The Burr and Burton teachers attending the conference were Social Studies Department Head, Dave Miceli, Social Studies teachers Kendra Larson, John Graf, Sarah McMillian and Jonathan Bigelow.
On Sept. 27 Burr and Burton teacher Larson and Mill River math teacher Laura Steere will present at the Rowland Foundation Conference at UVM on "Differentiated Instruction" and discus these topics further.
