MANCHESTER - It's not too late to register for the Maple Leaf Half Marathon and 5K. Online registration is now closed; however, you can still fill out a paper registration form. Forms may be downloaded from the website, or pick one up at the Manchester and the Mountains Chamber of Commerce. Register at the Perfect Wife Restaurant, on Rt. 11/30 in Manchester, on Friday between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. You may also register on race day at the Manchester Recreation Park. The race committee urges you to sign up before race day, if at all possible. Registration at the Manchester Park begins at 6:30 a.m., Saturday. Plan to arrive early. The Park entrance will be closed to all vehicular traffic at 7:55 a.m. After that time, all vehicles must park on the Dorr Field or behind St. Paul's Church. Both the half marathon and the 5K will take place Saturday, Sept. 8, in Manchester. Google the race online, or call the Manchester & the Mountains Chamber of Commerce (802-362-6313) for details.

The Maple Leaf this year is honoring the late Manchester Chamber executive director Jay Hathaway, and is being presented by the Perfect Wife Restaurant, the Spiral Press Café, MVP Health Care, Orvis, as well as 40 additional local business partners. All net proceeds from the race will go to local nonprofit organizations and deserving individuals. Jay would be very proud of that mission. So, if you are a long distance runner/walker, a 5K runner/walker, or interested in participating in the team challenge
