EAST DORSET - From July 4 to Aug. 12, the Vermont Summer Festival entrance gate will have a bin to collect non-perishable food for those in need in sixteen area communities, and will be distributed by the Community Food Cupboard.

Donations of kid-friendly lunch and snack foods will be a big help for many families this summer: canned tuna or chicken, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, granola bars, fruit cups. Monetary donations are always welcome, and can also be mailed to CFC, P.O. Box 864, Manchester Center, VT 05255.

The Horse Show is located at Beebe Farm, north of Manchester on Route 7, and is open to spectators Wednesdays through Sundays. This year, four area charities are sharing in the gate proceeds collected during the six-week event. Come out to watch the best horse and rider competiton in Vermont, and bring along a food donation to double the impact on helping community members in need.
