This free celebration includes a barbecue, face painting, children's games, and music provided by Woodchucks' Revenge.
A highlight of the celebration will be the Century Pie-Baking Contest. Any baker interested in submitting a homemade pie for the contest should drop by the library for an entry form or go to www.dorsetlibraryinfo.org for the form. There is a junior category for those 15 and under (appropriate adult supervision is allowed). Local ingredients are encouraged.
Originally formed as the Dorset Book Club in 1870, the Dorset Village Library was incorporated by the Vermont State Legislature in 1912. At the time, the Library was housed upstairs in the Sykes Store (today's Dorset Union Store). In 1928, Bernard G. Sykes purchased the Memorial Building, originally the Gray Tavern, to serve as the permanent home of the Dorset Village Library.
