MANCHESTER - Join Transition Town Manchester for a Clean Up Day at 'RIVERWALK' on July 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. The purpose is to tidy up the walking path through Manchester's central wooded glen that runs along the West Branch of the Battenkill. Those interested in helping out should bring work gloves, clippers, rakes and enthusiasm. Coffee and bagels will be available. The work group will meet in the parking lot of the defunct bowling alley, behind Village Picture Shows in Manchester.

This large area of nature, in the heart of Manchester, is now home to a trail that encourages walking and making the town more pedestrian friendly. From the site of the former bowling alley to the Mill pond, this 200 feet of river frontage named "Riverwalk" is one part of the local solution to the climate crisis.

In the future, the hope is to work with other groups, public and private, to create a useful, handicap accessible public park with a bridge across the river, a stairway to Main Street, and a stage for theater-in-the-woods.
