MANCHESTER >> On Friday, Jan. 22, starting at 4 p.m. join children's graphic novel author, Marika McCoola as she presents "Baba Yaga's Assistant," a stunning debut with richly layered art by acclaimed graphic artist Emily Carroll. It's a storytelling feat and a visual feast, which won McCoola the New England Book Award for her category in 2015.
Marika McCoola is an illustrator, educator, and the New York Times bestselling author. She studied illustration, art history, creative writing, and ceramics at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Md. and received her BFA in Illustration in
2009. She then went on to study creative writing and children's literature at Simmons College, receiving an MFA in Writing for Children in 2012.
In addition to writing and illustrating, Marika teaches Studio Art, Illustration, and Children's Literature online for the State University of New York, Empire State College, and teaches classes through the Emerson Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, Mass. She's also taught Children's Literature for the K-6 Classroom for Skidmore College's Education department. This event is appropriate for ages 10- 14

Wine and Cheese tasting
Taste a variety of wine and cheese pairings presented by author Adam Centamore on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. Centamore is a
professional educator who conducts private and corporate cheese and wine tasting experiences with the goal of sharing the pure enjoyment of these foods. He is certified by the Elizabeth Bishop Wine Program, and is a member of the French Wine Society and Society of Wine Educators. He is also the Maitre d 'Fromage for the Boston chapter of the Chevalier du Tastevin, a prestigious French wine society. By day, he works at Bin Ends, an award-winning wine retailer. He has also worked and teaches at Formaggio Kitchen, a world-renowned cheese importer featuring artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, and condiments from Europe and the United States. Centamore will be choosing a variety of cheeses for tasting according to what is the best available at the time of the event. The wine selection he will be presenting will be provided by Wines By George.
