According to the state police, shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, the Manchester Fire Department responded to a reported fire on Main Street in Manchester at Sherrie's Cafe. The fire was reported by an off duty fireman who spotted the flames at the roof of the establishment and called in the fire. When the fire department arrived they located fire at the back of the business and began trying to vent it through the roof.
The Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire and kept the fire from spreading throughout the entire building.
The Manchester Fire Department contacted the Vermont State Police and requested an origin and cause fire investigation be conducted. Detectives from the State Police Fire Investigation Unit responded to the scene on May 7.
It was determined the fire was accidental and is not considered to be suspicious in nature.
